What are good ways to avoid getting stuck with a "wide" snowboard?

I hate wide snowboards. I am US size 14 and I don't like duck stance.Ideas?

Certain boots? "mid-wide" snowboard? "raisers"

I mostly ride freestyle so I really need response from my board...

I weigh 150 lbs, I'm roughly 6"1, maybe 6"2, i dunno.

I would really like some help.

unless you want to go hella duck footed, cram into size 10 or 11 boots, or use really big risers, there is no way for someone with size 14 feet to ride anything but a wide snowboard. check out MFMs pro model with nitro. hes got huge feet, but rides freestyle, so you can count on that board doing you good. http://www.nitrousa.com/
Reply:Hate to break it to you, but you've contradicted yourself....

You hate wide boards but need good response. If your toes and heels are hanging too far out over the edges, you will LOSE response not gain it. You NEED your heels and toes as close to those edges as you can get 'em. They are the ends of the fulcrum that get your edges to dig in.

Additionally, if you're freeriding, you'll be making a lot of deep carves and that toe drag will cost you. With big dogs like yours trying to turn in powder? It's a surefire way to get you to fall. At the very least, you'll get passed by your friends like you're a snail.

What don't you like about wide boards? Have you looked into a mid-wide? You're slightly tall with big feet, but you're not heavy at all. Plenty of companies like Lib Tech, Forum and Burton are cranking out mid-wides at 154-157 lengths. But the waist widths will cover your needs. I'm just saying maybe a shorter board will give you a little more snappiness.

Good luck!
Reply:I have size 13 feet and HATE wide decks too. I ride an 07 Burton Custom X with a waist of 250.

I use riser plates, which lift me off the board a half inch or so. I still have overhang, but need to angulate the edge so much more to catch. I suggest you buy some.

Two options: Burton Elevators or Palmer PLS.
