Does my horse need shoes?
Your horse doesn't need shoes in the winter. Snow balls up inside the shoe and makes them slip and slide. Bare feet are best in the winter. The other 3 seasons-think about where you ride, how often you ride and how tough your horse's feet are. If the horse's feet wear down fairly quickly or it has any cracks in the feet, you'll have to shoe. If you trail ride across paved roads, you should have borium welded to the shoes. It makes a hard bump on the bottom of the shoe and prevents slipping on pavement of any kind. This costs more initially, but also makes the shoes last longer. Bare feet are also better crossing roads than plain shoes, since they grip better. Plain shoes tend to slide especially on concrete, creating an unsafe condition.

You decision should be based on how fast your horse's feet wear down though.
Reply:welllllllllllllll. You definitaly need shoes if you are going on the road in the summer. But you can rise in the pasture if his soles aren't soft. If you did get him shoes. Don't put them on the back

1. if he were to kick you that would really hurt ( duhhh ! )

2. If he were to step on your foot by accident that would also hurt. = )
Reply:i would say just get shoes and if you ever ride on rocky or something like that get the rubbber pads beneath them but ya get shoes
