Moms, what to do about my little cowgirl's stinky feet!!???

My daughter who is only 7 loves to wear her cowboy boots even though we live in AZ and it is horribly hot. She gets really upset when I tell her she should wear something else. When she takes off her boots later - it is enough to knock you out!

She baths regularly and I have her wash her feet after taking them off to help with the smell. I have tried powder in the boots but that does not help much either.

My other daughter also had this same problem even with sneakers.

It is pretty strange that my 10 year old son's feet don't smell at all and the girls smell like a locker room.

I am not really an advocate of flip flops either when they are going to be riding bikes or jumping rope.

Suggestions please !!!

Moms, what to do about my little cowgirl's stinky feet!!???
Make sure she's wearing socks. Not only is it smart, because it can hurt her feet (especially the not-so-comfy hard sole of a cowboy boot), it acts as a barrier between a sweaty foot and a non-absorbant material. When she takes them off, they go to the laundry and the smell goes down a lot.

Powder her feet, not the shoe itself. You could even douse the sock with powder. What you're wanting to do is to find ways to absorb the sweat, which will eliminate the smell caused by using a synthetic material that doesn't absorb sweat (and therefore doesn't absorb odor).

Trim a Dr. Scholl's shoe insert to fit in her child-size boot. It'll add padding to make it more comfortable, and it will help control some of the odor.

If the sweat (and smell) persist, mention it to her doctor. It's not all that common, but certain conditions can cause a person to sweat a lot.
Reply:It's the leather! It may be really cheap cowhide that was not tanned properly....or tanned using an old fashioned method

which I will not explain.

Or it could be goatskin/snake

skin/ or any cheap, and wild

critter that can be used for

boots.

There's no way to get the

smell out of the boots and

hence will always be on the

girls' feet. Would they like

Squaw boots? I used to ride

in them every day.

Minnetonka makes quality

ones and the Indians up in

Manitoba (can't remember the tribe),. hand-make some great mocassins out of moose skin.
Reply:try soaking her feet in a tub of warm tea. leave the tea bags in. do this for one week for 45 minutes stright. the shoe smell, i not sure, i always used baby powder in lavender.
Reply:well.....tell her to cput on smelly lotion.
Reply:I saw an experiment on discovery health where they took sweaty shoes and put baking soda in them, then let them sit for a day or so. The baking soda dries up the moisture in the shoes thus reducing the odor. It can't hurt to give it a try! As for her feet, just wash them and powder them.Once the smell is out of the shoes her feet probably won't smell so bad.
Reply:well u could find some odor treatment or if that doesnt work them u could always just go to her doctor and they should give u some treatment to put on her feet!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!
Reply:Baking soda and cornstarch in shoes and boots. Anti-bacterial soap on her feet.

Give the boots a few days off, or buy a second pair to trade off.
Reply:Try and remember that her individuality is at stake..as for the stinky feet-here's what you do: if she is set on wearing the boots insist on fairly thick white socks (colored socks promote bacteria) before she puts the socks on put deodorant on her feet, Degree works best. Please don't laugh, it really works...good luck.
Reply:Get over it! put light socks on her and put a peg on your nose!
Reply:try odor eaters
Reply:Shoes that get worn every day don't get the chance to fully dry out. If you have her switch between 2 pairs of shoes, every other day, they shouldn't get so smelly. The shoes she has now are already smelly... if they can't be washed, there is no hope for them. Wearing a different pair of shoes every other day, and sprinkling a little baking soda in them at the end of the day should take care of the problem. Good luck!
Reply:I do not know if this really works but if it's on Oprah it must work this was when Dr.Oz was on her show and he suggested using tea bags do like you would if you were making tea and dip her feet in I am not for sure how long she keeps her feet in but check out her site and see if they have more info.Good luck.
Reply:What makes her feet stinky is the synthetic material. The best type of shoes for the feet are leather. If she insists on wearing the boots, try putting cotton socks on her feet. The cotton will absorb all the sweat.

My son loves to wear his rain boots....all the time
Reply:I'd go with cotton socks and Dr. Scholls Oder Eaters. That might do the trick.
Reply:Baking soda in the shoes and boots. The tea bags sound like an interesting solution to the feet.
