Does anyone else object to that new World Trade Center Movie?

I lived near NYC, and just feel that Oliver's Stone's line about "telling the story" is a load of crap. The truth?? He is riding this pony to the bank while playing on a nation's emotions. I am boycotting the movie. The stories are told, and the tragedy is still fresh with too many people. I was in Navy boot camp on 9/11, and had friends to worry about. This movie both saddens and sickens me. Even worse, Nicholas Cage ?!

Does anyone else object to that new World Trade Center Movie?
I agree with you, but I am probably going to see it.
Reply:its stupid. i absolute hate the concept that and idea of a movie was even thought of in the first place. its just wrong. what is hollywood coming to? theyre just running out of ideas for movies. even animations nowadays are just a load of crap, stupid storylines and the magic is all gone. movies nowadays r just bloody remakes, killing the original movies or concepts. its outrageous! do u think some cinemas would ban this movie, like they banned the movie brokeback mountain? nicholas cage...crap...is all i can say.
Reply:Its a free country, he can make a movie about what he wants to. Of course we have the right not to see it.

I am not going to see it. I know how the movie ends. And I do think that it is too soon to have made the movie. It insults my intellect. I didn't see Titanic either, I knew the damn ship sunk!
Reply:I dont think that they should put it out either. It is deffinitely too soon.
Reply:I absolutely agree with you. I don't think it's appropriate for the movie industry to put out something like that. I know I won't be seeing it.
Reply:I agree. I think a hollywood blockbuster movie just cheapens the memory of the disaster. Even movies like Titanic -- it doesn't pay homage to the people that died -- it just makes the whole thing seem cheap and cheesy.
Reply:Too soon? It's been 5 years, grow up people. Don't get me wrong, it was a terrible event but move on. The movie doesn't make fun of it or anything. It simply tells the story of two police officers risking their lives to save others. 10% of the profits go to the families or something like that. Howcome no one was saying too soon when the Martha Stewart prison movie came out last year? That was only 6 months after she got sent. In my mind, that is too soon.
Reply:I agree, and being from the city myself, I object to the new World Trade Center. Just the design. This view is not popular, but I wish they'd rebuild it exactly the way it was, but only one story higher in defiance of the tragedy. Smaller buildings are targeted all the time. If I had been one of the victims on that day, I know that's what I would have wanted for the builders to do!

Good question. Thank you!
